Operation: Faith Lift

What do you get when you add balloons, a prayer of faith, and the sincerity of a child's heart? Operation Faith Lift!

This exciting new feature to our "Make it Real!" Sunday is a big hit with the kids! During the Sunday morning sermon young people are asked to personalize a coloring page. On the back, they can read the heart-warming story of a little girl and her balloon. Following the fellowship meal, each coloring page is tied to a balloon. The children are asked to pray for the person who will find their gift and the balloons are released into the air.

The event is very special and memorable for the children. There is nothing quite like seeing the eyes of a little one light up as they watch God take over. It's a wonderful way to teach our children how to live the Christian advantage; to empower them to make it real!

Below is the poem I wrote to accompany each coloring page.

I don't know who'll get this note.
I hope it's not a hungry goat!
I tied it to this little string
Then said a prayer as it took wing.

I know that God directs the wind
And did direct this note I send.
He pushed it toward the one HE chose
Though how it's done, well... no one knows.

I hope that you can surely see,
God connected you and me.
And if you're ever sad and blue,
Remember, I have prayed for you.

The "Make it Real!" Sunday is a wonderful way to fit a lot of information into a short amount if time. Below is a sample schedule for this very special Sunday. Can we come to your congregation?

"MAKE IT REAL!" CHALLENGES:

NEW MONTH!
May's "Make It Real!" Life Skill:
This month focus on being the best possible employee. Be resourceful. Take initiative. Show the Christian advantage through your work ethic.

Luke 15 - The major topic of Luke 15 is the lost coin, lost son, and lost sheep. Think of the number 15 as the "l" and the "s" in the word lost.

Assignment: Print several copies of the passage picture. Post them around your house and work place. Each time you see the picture, drill yourself on the topic.

Below is an example of how this practical passage could be useful in your life.

Scenario:
You are struggling to be evangelistic and you want to read about the joys of reaching out to the lost.  Where would you go?  Luke 15

Note: When I was a teenager, I thought I knew everything. Now that I am much older, I know that I have much to learn. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts on this important topic. sonny@sonnychilds.com

Part of "Operation: Faith Lift" is tying a personalized coloring page with a special poem on it to a helium balloon.

The last step is letting the balloon float away after saying a prayer for the person who will find their message.
