Just Say Jesus! It happened again! For a couple of weeks, the same subject has been brought to my attention. I know it is God working in my life, but I'm not really sure why this has been the subject. Maybe He wanted me to write this blog or there's a possibility that He is preparing me for something in the future. Anyway, the subject has been His Son, Jesus. Now I know that's not an unusual topic since I am a Christian. It's the context that has been different. In our Sunday morning Bible class, we have been studying First John 2 which talks about antichrists and the Antichrist. We not only went over that specific passage during one class period, but it was also used in a sermon and again in the next Sunday morning Bible class. In between those two class periods, I was told several true stories that recently happened. All of these stories involved using the name of Jesus in a positive way. Now I can't give you specifics, but I will say that lives are still being changed simply because of the name of Jesus. These stories were about people taking their problems to Christians who talked to them about Jesus. They asked questions like, "What did Jesus say we should do for our enemies?" "Why don't we pray for ___________ and ask God to help us be more like Jesus?" "Do you think you are better than Jesus? He was rejected. His own friends denied Him. He was crucified. When your friends turn their back on you because of your faith, you should feel honored to be in the same company as Him." Wow! What truth! What boldness! What love! Are you wondering what all this has to do with antichrists and the Antichrist? This is the point that was brought to my attention. There are so many in the world who say they are Christians, but when they have the opportunity to profess His name to others they don't do it. Some of these people are in the public eye. They don't have a problem mentioning God or even praying to Him, but they shy away from saying the name of Jesus. I'm sad for them and I pray that none of us fit into that category and here is the reason. Jesus said in Matthew 10: 32-33, "Whoever acknowledges (confesses) me before men, I will also acknowledge (confess) him before my Father in heaven. But whoever disowns (denies) me before men, I will disown (deny) him before my Father in heaven." I don't know about you, but I don't want Jesus to have to turn His back on me because I wasn't willing to say His name. If I wear the name Christian (meaning Christ like) then I should be able to at least pray in His name. There are so many who have never even heard the name of Jesus. How dare we keep Him to ourselves! Everyone needs a Savior and Jesus is the one. I don't know if never saying the name of Jesus is the same as being an antichrist, but I do know that it is certainly not being for Him. It is denying Him or not confessing/acknowledging Him. Is one worse than the other? Maybe so, but I really do not want to find out. Do you? I also do not want someone else to be lost because I was ashamed to say the name of Jesus. May we all have the courage to speak the name of Jesus in order to help others. The world is lost. What are we doing about it? Just say Jesus! |
