Keep on Keepin’ on
This past
weekend I was blessed to travel to Indiana to see my sister, (Elizabeth) her
husband (Logan) and their two wonderful, beautiful children! You might have
heard me mention the kiddos before, Garrett is 4 and Abigail is 2! Lots of
great things happened this weekend! I was able to read books to the kids,
talk with them about God, have special time with them and their parents with
God before bed, and love on them! What a wonderful blessing to be family
with such a great family!
This
weekend included opening day of deer season, so that was pretty exciting as
well! This was a big day for Garrett, Logan, and Papaw (Logan’s dad). Like
Mrs. Cindy says about Gabriel wanting to be like Bro. Sonny, Garrett wants
to be like his daddy Logan. Garrett couldn’t wait to get out in the woods
that day! Logan’s dad killed a doe, but that was the only tragedy of the
day! The three guys had some time together walking through God’s creation,
that was most important.
Meanwhile
back at the house, the girls had time to enjoy little Abigail! It was fun to
sit back and chat and catch up on how everyone was doing. I love Logan’s
family just like they were my own! So it is always a joy to go to their
house and see them (plus they live out in the country and it is beautiful!)!
Probably
the best part of my visit was just getting to be with my sister! I was
telling someone that this was only the second time my sister and I have
really had to spend alone since she got married. I explained that Logan
doesn’t get in the way of that, it is just that we can talk about girl stuff
and watch girlie movies, etc! Their comment was we were able to just be
sisters, I said “Yep!”
My sister
and I have always been best friends growing up. I am so thankful that God
gave her to me, or me to her (she’s older)! I don’t even know where I would
be in this life if it weren’t for her kind words building me up as I grew up
and the encouragement of her example loving the Lord! I know she will always
love me and is always there for me, no matter what! She is the reason I keep
on keepin’ on sometimes! I hope that you have someone in your life like her!
(I love you Elizabeth!)
You know
the “I know she will always love me and is always there for me” part, does
that sound familiar to you? I said I hope you have someone like that, we all
do, and actually even better! God loves us so much that He sent His son to
die on the cross for our sins! God is up there hoping we will choose Him in
this life, so He can spend eternity with us! If you are feeling lost and
lonely, it is probably because you are trying to live this life on your own!
That is lonely! Do you want to have that feeling and worse forever? I don’t!
It is time to lift your chin and look up to heaven! Remember why we are even
here on earth. That always helps to put things back into perspective for me!
God is so good, and He is faithful!
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper
you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will
call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will
seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.…..”
